It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Cuero is once again being transformed into a winter wonderland complete with Ice Skating, Carriage Rides, Texas Snow Dome, Carousel, and Christmas Train and much more.
Christmas in Downtown, presented by Cuero Main Street, is bringing back last year’s crowd pleasers and some new exciting activities this year. The Main Street program is a department of the City of Cuero and focuses on the revitalization of downtown Cuero through marketing, promotions, events and historic preservation.
The center of the downtown event will house a 32 foot Christmas Tree with a gold star that will be up for the entire holiday season for all to enjoy. The event’s ever popular artificial Ice Skating Rink is returning courtesy of sponsors HEB and the Victoria Television Group.
More returning favorites include the carousel, sponsored by Pioneer Natural Resources and the Christmas Train, brought to you by Grace Episcopal Church. The Entertainment Stage will host Christmas Karaoke, a magician, and tons of local talent, thanks to James Teleco and Golden Crescent Communications. You can catch Santa and Mrs. Claus on Friday and Saturday evening, courtesy of Cuero Community Hospital. Everyone’s favorite, the horse drawn carriages will be back again in the evenings and will carry riders along Main Street.
New this year, is a snow mountain slide that is sure to be fun for all. ConocoPhillips and GVEC will be bringing you the Texas Snow Dome, which will be filled with synthetic snow that looks and feels just like the real thing. McMahan Welding has sponsored the new Giant Rocking Horse, a 25ft tall horse that you and your family can climb up into for a one-of-a-kind photo.
The Christmas Crafter’s Market will also be back with hand-made goodies and many of our downtown shops will be open late for holiday shopping. We’ll have some unique food trucks at this year’s festival. You’ll find funnel cakes and corn dogs at Ragley’s Concessions, Teriyaki chicken and shrimp fried rice at Chan’s Concessions, and lots of goodies at Say Grace Gourmet Chicken & Waffles and Karen’s SweetPea Cupcakery.
Event dates and hours are Friday, December 9, 6PM-10PM and Saturday, December 10, 12PM-10PM. Christmas in Downtown is brought to you by City of Cuero staff, Cuero Main Street volunteers, and community sponsors.
