Pilot is committed to helping people with brain-related disorders, and works closely with national and international organizations which support this focus. Some of the worthwhile projects Pilot Clubs support include:
|
- "Brown Bag It," a campaign designed to increase awareness of traumatic brain injury and raise funds for education and prevention programs. In cooperation with the Brain Injury Association, Pilot members encourage the public to "brown bag" a meal for a day and donate money otherwise spent at a restaurant to help fight traumatic brain injury.
- "Pilot Walks," held annually by Pilot Clubs to raise funds for programs that benefit people affected by brain-related disorders. Funds go to support research grants for the prevention and cure of Alzheimer's and other brain-related disorders.
- "National Organization Partnership Program" (NOPP), a program which promotes acceptance and participation of people with disabilities. Pilot is one of 38 participating national organizations. NOPP is sponsored by the National Organization on Disability and JC Penney.
- "Brain Awareness Week," organized by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives, is an international campaign launched to focus attention on the importance of the brain and brain research. Pilot is among more than 780 partner organizations which participate in the campaign.
- "The Brain Matters Stroke Initiative," developed by the American Academy of Neurology and the American Heart Association, is a stroke education and screening program for women.
